We are proud to present the next release in our Artist Series instruments – Unstrung – featuring the sound design of our own Randon Purcell. The artist series instruments will each highlight one of our composer/sound designers, where they will create most or all of the samples on their own.
Created almost entirely from raw, live, solo string recordings, Unstrung offers something truly unique for your horror and tension cues. Knocks, plucks, screeches, grindings, dives and ricochets from Cello, Viola, Violin and Banjo (yup, banjo), create hits, risers and patterns that are not only unique, but simple to manipulate and put into your own tracks.

PATTERNS
Provides you with a 16 step sequencer where each step can be loaded with a different sample from one of 5 categories (and over 250 distinct samples) of sounds: Knocks, Plucks, Ricochets, Grinds, and Dives. Each step can have volume, panning, length and tuning adjustments, making for infinite possibilities, and direct syncing to various time signatures in your DAW.

Provides you with 80 different whoosh effects, all made from live string manipulations and over 250 different one shot samples combined in our 3-layer engine to generate hits and jump scares. Play the hit by itself or play any of the whooshes which are programmed to play the hit automatically at the end of the whoosh. Create endless combinations of hits from subtle to absolutely horrific.

If you own our Ascendance product, you already know how easy it can be to make unique risers with our 3-layer engine. Unstrung Risers introduces a whole new version of our 3-layer engine, with various live string and manipulated/processed string risers, all recorded at 8 bars, 120bpm and set to stretch to your project tempo. This is all new content, including live solo string glissandos and various FX noises you only get from torturing acoustic string noises…and a few synths were thrown in just to round things out.

For any music creators needing that extra layer of tension or a good starter idea for a tension track, look no further than unstrung.
Fallout Music Group once again knocks it out of the park with a high quality, no frills (but all thrills) library of aleatoric string sounds.
The built in fx (distortion, reverb, delay) are an added bonus.
In addition to the tension string sounds, you can use Unstrung as a percussion instrument, using the knocks and hits to layer on top of your production.
For me, the patterns alone are worth the price of entry.
I highly recommend adding Unstrung – Live String Horror & Tension to your production toolbox!

Lots of fun stuff to play with. But I can’t just scroll through it using my Komplete S88 = Komplete Kontrol. Not the greatest when searching for sounds. Would’ve got a 5 star otherwise. But since it’s terribly annoying to load and use, I give it 3 stars.
There are a lot of sample libraries on the market that boast a plethora of Aleotoric samples and tools, but almost none have an engine or design that help you bring these samples together into one homogenous musical idea. Unstrung does this in way that is efficient, inspiring and most importantly (surprising) these key factors are bedrock in Aleotoric music. It’s also why it’s so hard to build a great library for this genre. This is where their movement engine comes in. Building harmonic tension through micro timing and signatures gives composers one more tool to in their kit to compose great modern horror/thiller themes and musical ideas.

As usual, a great vsti from Fallout Music group. The pattern instrument and the possibility with this particular one are just amazing!!! The soundS are top of the top and the GUI is clear and intuitive. Already my favorite one and used it barely on all projects.

Unstrung – Live String Horror & Tension FX
Ironically I was in the middle of a project where I was creating similar sounds out of a combination of other libraries and heavy processing when I caught the Sample Libraries Review of Unstrung in one of their weekly wrap up videos. Long story short – Some great textures in here, super clean samples and an interesting engine to tie it all together! There’s also a lot more in here than you initially think when you first open it up, but the UI cleverly holds most it back opting for simplicity over what can become very complicated depending on how far you want to push it. This is a very specific tool that can work in variety of projects but excels at modern horror and tension. Awesome buy, saved me a lot of time on my project 🙂
Really great library. Finally something unique, amongst all those string librairies coming out. They cannot keep reinventing string libraries in my opinion. So, finally something new and something special. If you loved Ashen Scoring Cello from Wavelet audio or Enigma from Xtant audio, you definitely should buy this one.

Fallout Music Group kicked off 2021 with a library that is perfect and beautifully horrifying. Instant inspiration and incredibly useful. I highly recommend that you add this to your composer’s toolkit. Unstrung is Unique, Powerful, and Wickedly Fun!
Warning…do not use this sample library in the dark!
Unstrung will instantly put you in a tense horror scene. What is great is that the patterns and risers sections give you a large amount of flexibility. I can definitely see this saving me a bunch of time when composing. There are a variety of samples that cover a lot of ground in the genre. I found myself just cranking up the monitors and just listening with a smile on my face. The samples…well the samples are disturbing in such an awesome way!
Another great release from Fallout Music Group. One thing I can always count on is the quality of their products.
Just a word of advice. If you are going to be using Unstrung, just let anybody That will be around you know that you are. They will feel a little more at ease when they hear these horrific sounds coming out of your monitors 🙂
FMG plugs find their way into almost everything I do, regardless of genre, because they’re so well designed. Unstrung, for example, was clearly created with horror/suspense in mind yet, I had no trouble finding a place for it in a tongue-in-cheek Neo Classical cue. The sample content is first rate, well thought out, & well recorded, & the user interface has everything you need & (just as important) nothing you don’t. Any sound can be layered & mangled to your heart’s content. Conversely, any complex preset can be stripped down to a single component sound, all on one page. It’s a beast….so get it already!
I made one of my favorite Horror Trailer cues top date because of Unstrung! My New go-to VST for mangled Horror String sounds and effects. Great job FMG, PURE INSANITY!!
